If, after assembling a component, a shape or positional deviation is detected that lies outside the permissible tolerance, the positioning device must be adjusted. In many industrial sectors, this adjustment has traditionally been carried out manually by inserting shims of varying thickness beneath the positioning elements. However, this method is not only time-consuming but also requires interruption of the ongoing production process.
The e-Shim from PROMESS was developed as an electromechanical replacement for these conventional compensation methods. It can be integrated into existing devices without costly equipment modifications and enables automatic adjustment based on the previously determined deviation. The adjustment is executed via an external control system – directly during operation.
This makes the e-Shim suitable not only for car body construction but also for all applications that require reproducible and precise position correction of assemblies.
